The quality of life of spinal injury patients is highly dependent on the skill of carers. If I Could...

If I could... I’d cure paralysis so that nobody has to come to terms with the life changing outcomes of a spinal cord injury, ever again. If we’re granting wishes, that’s mine 🙂👊!

If I could walk and push a pram

My first grandchild was born and wished I could push her in pram! But she loves to be on grandmas knee on my wheelchair

If I could...

If I could make people understand that happiness exists in the present moment.. not the future and not the past… it would mean that the world would smile more.

I will run again

If I could, I will run and dance again, I will walk by the beach and swim in the sea again, I will learn playing piano again, I will be independent and free again without getting any help from others. I’m young and I still have full life waiting for me, and I would love to live it as a healthy person with full functioning body.

Not to be so anxious on a daily basis

If I could change anything it would be to have bladder and bowl control back. Having this would give me a lot more confidence while I’m out which would get rid of the anxiety I suffer from on a daily basis.

ongoing accessible rehabilitation

If I could... refer anybody who could benefit from ongoing specialist rehabilitation for 2 years post discharge without paying out of their own savings it would enhance people's lives and capitalise on all the great work in the spinal units

Hand in hand

Oh how wonderful would it be to walk hand in hand with the love of my life my amazing Wife Linda yes we can hold hand's but I am unable to feel her hand in mine . The walk along the beach the stroll along the promenade Oh the memories of those Day's How I wish I could go back to 1991 and a day when all was well. Rant over I'm now approaching my 71st Year in this world and I am so grateful for all the memories I have and the love and support of my Beloved family members and friends

If I could

If I could use my hands I would have more independence. I would rely less on others by being able to get things myself. My wife and I could do more things by ourselves as I would rely less on carers. It would mean more freedom and more personal family time. It would change my life

What I miss

If I could move my arms and hands I would be able to do all the activities of daily living, I would be independent, I would look after my two little nephews, play with them, hug them... I would help my mum to do some home duties, I would travel. I would live without worrying about searching a care assistant, I would live with no fear.

The Pain

If I could be free of neuropathic pain I might be able to do all sorts of things!

If I could I would ask for more funding for research and development in all aspects of medical science to help those affected by spinal injuries in giving them back their equality of life. If I could I would’ If I could I would ask the the world to stop fighting with each other and put aside their differences and use the resources not for greed or fear but to persevere life. I could I would.

I joined to help people like my wife.To have no need for carers,for her to have total dignity back.For us not to worry about how safe footpaths are .To be able to go out at night for a meal without worrying if a place is wheelchair friendly and if suitable transport is available.To have quality time together.

I would play the drums. Before my accident this was something I loved to do - to be able to do this again would make me really happy!

Good luck this is important

Ask yourself why does the government invest more? I know that they contribute a lot for the care of people with spinal injuries and for that thank you. But they need to do more

If I could stand

I would be back in the main concourse to jump and cheer when Norwich score with all the other fans.

Have use of my fingers

If I could use of my finger I could be a more active parent to my young children.

If I could...

If I could use my legs again, I would travel to explore more of the world's stunning, and often difficult to reach, natural landscapes without the barriers or limitations imposed by my injury.

Life would restart

I have a good quality of life, but If I could remove the societal barriers that disable me as a fulltime wheelchair user I would be able to relax and enjoy my 'old age' with a contented smile!
